Weather conditions
The vagaries of the climate affected the season. After a very wet 2010 autumn, the winter and in particular the spring in 2011 included a very worrying period of drought and in June we had very high temperatures. Then the barometer swung in the opposite direction with unusually cool and wet weather in the summer, bringing with it the threat of vine disease. Contrary to the saying, "Août fait le moût", August wasn't hot enough to "make the must" and come september 1st, morale was at rock bottom. However, as in the 2007 vintage, autumn sunshine arrived to rescue a harvest that had looked doomed. Fine weather returned at the beginning of September.

The harvest was therefore done in good weather conditions. On a same bunch of grapes, you could fine green berries, some traces of rots as well as ripes grapes...

The 2011 crops was in the end heterogeneous with a drop in yields of between 20 and 40%.

Tasting comments

Very attractive, deep colour with purple glints. An elegant nose which combines notes of sandalwood, white pepper and the blackest fruits, dark chocolate chips, a touch of liquorice and smoked bacon. Rich and full on the palate, it develops with volume revealing quite creamy fine-grained tannins, without any harshness or austerity.

The finish is massive, dynamic and flavoursome.
